Your personal data will never be sold for advertising purposes or passed on to other companies by us. Transfer of your data to third parties does also not take place, except for the purposes of order processing. The following provides information on the storage of your data. Our data protection practices conform to the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz) (BDSG) as well as the German Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz) (TMG).
DP 01 | Personal Data
Riu-Shop uses customers’ personal data confidentially and exclusively for the processing of orders. The exception to this is any services that the customer additionally requires. In order to process and deliver the customer’s order, Riu-Shop gives the customer’s data solely to the delivery company assigned in each case. The recipient may only use the distributed data for the completion of the task. Any further use of the information is not permitted.

In order to register as a regular customer, Riu-Shop is required to request permission to store the customer’s personal data, which is requested at the appropriate point in the order to comply with the above-mentioned Acts. DP 02 | Customer registration
Riu-Shop processes and uses the data that has been freely entered into the form and transferred to Riu-Shop. This includes, for example, the customer’s name, address, phone number and email, as well as a user name and password.

DP 03 | Ordering
Apart from the customer registration data, Riu-Shop also needs further data in order to process the order, such as the delivery address and payment details (e.g. the Riu Program account details). When paying via payment methods such as the German Sofortüberweisung, credit card or PayPal, the customer is forwarded to the corresponding certified supplier’s page to process the payment. Data such as the customer’s credit card number or bank account details are not stored by Riu-Shop.

Riu-Shop also collects the IP address. Riu-Shop uses this to protect its customers and to guard against the misuse of its website or to identify misuse. Please note that the IP address is only used and processed in an abbreiviated form to prevent it being directly linked to a particular individual.
DP 04 | Activities in the online shop
In order that the shopping cart can be used and to enable the recognition of visitors on repeated visits to our website, Riu-Shop stores cookies on the visitor’s computer. Further information on the use of cookies can be found in “Cookies“, Point 08.
DP 05 | Information
Riu-Shop will provide the customer full information about their stored data upon request free of charge. If the customer wishes to receive this, please send a message to datenschutz(at)riu-shop.de. Riu-Shop is obliged to correct, disable or delete any customer data upon request.
DP 06 | SSL encryption
Personal data transferred on this website is encrypted using Transport Layer Security, also known as SSL or Secure Sockets Layer. The TLS process that we use is currently the safest data encryption method. Riu-Shop.de uses SHA 2-256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), thereby complying with the highest security standards. AlphaSSL by GlobalSign issues the SSL certificate and the key exchange method used is DHE_RSA (2048 bit).

Using SSL encryption means that your data is scrambled before you are transferred to the Riu-Shop server, so that a third party cannot reconstruct it. By using this method we ensure that customer data is sent only to the server that has requested the data. When the customer data reaches the Riu-Shop server this is checked to see if it is complete and unaltered. On many browsers there is a small lock symbol in the address bar, indicating encrypted data transfer.
DP 07 | Non-personal data
Every time the page is visited, access data is stored in a log file. This data is non-personal data. Riu-Shop can therefore not trace which user has transmitted which data. We collect the Riu-Shop usage data which is stored for statistical purposes. The following specific data on each access is stored: name of accessed file; date and time of access; data volume transferred; successful access report; reason for access failure; user’s operating system and browser software, as well as the website from which our website was visited.
DP 08 | Cookies
Riu-Shop uses cookies on its website to make it possible for web-based applications to manage the status of online visits and enable smooth navigation between the individual services and content on the website, and also to make continually recurring settings on the Riu-Shop website available to the internet user.

A cookie as a small data file that is transferred from the Riu-Shop to the user’s computer when the user is browsing the page. A cookie only contains information that Riu-Shop itself sends to the website visitor’s computer – a cookie cannot be used to access private data.

When cookies have been accepted by the user, Riu-Shop has no access to their personal data. Riu-Shop can however identify the user’s computer through the cookies. Riu-Shop uses cookies so that the customer can, for example, manage and add orders to their shopping cart during a session, and enable the Riu-Shop page to be better tailored to the specific needs of the customer.

Riu-Shop uses session-specific cookies that are not permanently stored on the website visitor’s computer. These temporary cookies are discarded after leaving the webpage. The collected data allows Riu-Shop to analyse the usage patterns and structures of the website. This signifies that the website can be continuously optimised by improving the content and simplifying its use.

Riu-Shop uses permanent cookies. These cookies remain on the customer’s computer in order to facilitate purchasing and registration services on their next visit. The cookies can, for example, record which articles the customer has selected to purchase whilst they continue shopping. The customer also only has to enter passwords on the website once in order to log in.

Permanent cookies can be manually deleted by the user. The permanent cookies used by Riu-Shop are stored on their hard disks for up to 1,000 days. After this they are automatically deleted. Most browsers accept cookies by default. Temporary and saved cookies can be independently permitted or not permitted in Security Settings. If cookies are not permitted, some features on the Riu-Shop website may not be available and some pages may not display correctly.

In order to be able to use the Riu-Shop checkout, the session-specific cookies must be enabled. If the user does not wish to accept or cannot accept cookies in any way, it is possible to place orders for Riu-Shop by email, phone or fax.

Riu-Shop draws on some of its partner companies to make the internet offers and websites more interesting for users. This is why cookies from partner companies are also stored on the customer’s hard disk when they visit the website. These cookies are permanent cookies. These cookies remain on the user’s computer and are automatically deleted after their prescribed lifetime. The lifetime is up to 22 years. Our partner companies have no access to the customer’s personal information and personal data either. This pseudonymous data is also not merged with the customer’s personal data. Pseudonymous data is, for example, data about which products have been searched for or which products the user has looked at or bought. This data has the sole purpose of enabling our partner companies to, for example, display advertising that the user may be interested in or to prevent the user constantly seeing the same advert.

Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to a Google server in the USA and then abbreviated there.
